Walk On By

Gary Hill
In 2016 I made two 2-week long visits to Essaouira, a small town on the Atlantic coast of Morocco. Both were in winter, January and November. Each morning about 11.00am the sun would climb up over a high stone wall on the pedestrian route between the medina and the harbour and for one hour only, casting a shadow from the only street light and creating a wonderful range of colours on the opposite wall. Here I'd sit watching the world go by photographing anyone interesting walk on by. These are a few of the images I captured.
